More about Alex

2007 IDEA, Hong Kong
In late July 2007, 5 of us from Dramability went to the World Congress of International Drama/Theatre and Education Assoc' in Hong Kong for 10 days.
The conference was about finding ideas from other workshops and performances that we use for ways to improve our own techniques and ideas. For more details about the conference, go to: www.ideadrama.org.
Here are some of the photos from the conference and parts of Hong Kong. The group also permitted me and acknowledged to view the photos.

The film: Who is he?
Picture
The film is the new vision from "My first short film". This film is more dynamic and better then the first one. It has stories and interviews from my life story when I came to Australia and when I became an actor in the mid 90s It also has stories from the "Sticks and Stone showpiece" it began in 2007 when I asked the Coordinator from the Springvale Nieghbourhood House whether they could help and auspice me to make a film about my life with my disability and my dream to became an actor. The Coordinator gave me a contact to meet a film maker/photographer. His name is Costas Athanassiou. He had a great deal of work from the major communities with the Multicultural communities, the local councils, and other minor community groups. He also does weddings and other special occasions.
In 2008, we applied for a grant from the VMC (Victorian Multicultural Commission) as part 1 of the process. In the following year, the application was a success and we started in June that year.
A couple of years later, Fusion Theatre was the 2nd company to auspice us and we applied for a grant from the City of Greater Dandenong. The council suggested that we do the first half with VMC and they allowed us to finish the project. in 2011 I made a launch of the film and it was a success.
In 2012, the film was shown at the Other film Festival (by Arts Access) and it was a success with the support of the public.
In 2014, the film was also shown at the 21st of Greek Short Film Festival and was the first film to shared the public disabilities  in the Greek Community.

The story of Thepsis
Picture
Katerina Welsby, Steve Grapsas, myself, and Andy Mckinnon.
Thespis started in 2014 when I met Stathis (Steve) Grapsas from the 21st Greek Film Festival. We discussed the idea of performing a story of ancient Greek tragedies from Ajax, Persian Messenger, and Iphigenia and the Syrian war issues of displaced people. We decided to have 3 people to perform this story, namely myself, Andy McKinnon and Katrina Welsby. I played the part of Ajax and Aylan, Andy, the Messenger and Kebrat the Refugee Reporter of the Syrian boat tragedies. Katrina was Malala and Iphigenia.
For two years we planned and rehearsed; we performed for Artability that is run by ADEC at the Federation Square, Melbourne.
Then in March-April 2017, we performed at the Hellenic Museum in Melbourne for 5 weeks. In July 2017 we performed at Gemco Players Community Theatre in Emerald. Then we performed at the Greek Centre in Lonsdale St Melbourne and the Greek Cultural Centre.
The first debut of film acting
Zero Tolerance
In early 2016, I got a part with a special film in the first time from the National Disability Services. That is relates to living in a special home for the people with disabilities. It is primary for the carers living with them to have a "no tolerance policy" for not to make any abuse or mislead towards to people disabilities living with them.
The actual film is a teaching tool for the carers to understand the serranos what it will happen in the both side of the story.
My character was Tom a Greek Australian with disability who live with them for a few years. Here is an example of a couple scene as handling the wrong way and handling the right way. Click the start button to sse a clip.

Seven Types of Ambiguity
Picture
On the same week, one of my colleagues sent me an email about the new TV series on ABC for 2017. She thought that I would be best suited to the character of Roger. So I applied for the position and went for an audition on that Friday. On the following Monday, I got the part of Roger. The role that I played was Joe’s brother. Joe is played by Alex Dimitriades..
This was the first episode. The scene was of Roger in an old people’s home.
Who Are They?
It’s a project about a documentary film about artists with disabilities. There are be actors, painters/drawers, performers/dancers, storytellers/authors.
The first phrase was in 2021 that we found artists in Melbourne and in Metropolitan area. In the later date, we did in the Regional area in Victoria.
The film are in stages for the period 2 years as from 2020 till 2022, and it will finished in 2023.
Later in 2023, we will present 5 artists with disabilities in Melbourne and surrounding suburbs and within Victoria.
